Leonard Mills

President and Chief Executive Officer

The Verte Opportunity Fund is managed by PI Analytics, LLC, an investment adviser pursuant to an Investment Management Agreement. PI Analytics investment advisory team is led by Dr. Leonard Mills, who has over 30 years of experience and proven success in the asset selection and portfolio management.  

Dr. Mills’ prior experience includes senior level positions at the Federal Reserve Bank, Fannie Mae, Wells Fargo Bank, and as an adjunct professor. He earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Hampden-Sydney College and a doctoral in Economics from Tulane University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds the Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF). 

Dr. Mills spent over 15 years as Head of Portfolio Analytics and Research for Fannie Mae’s direct portfolio which peaked at over $1.5 trillion in assets under management. Dr. Mills and his team of 150 quantitative analysts were responsible for all the proprietary analytics and research underlying all asset selections and portfolio management strategies for the entire portfolio.  After leaving Fannie Mae, he was a Principal at Unison Investment Management that managed two funds.  

Len founded PI Analytics Investment Adviser in 2016 specializing in alternative, hard-to-value assets. Among accounts managed are its first fund, Verte Capital in 2015, to invest in the emerging cannabis industry.  He founded the Verte Opportunity in 2019 to invest in and develop emerging companies impacting Opportunity Zones. 

Nao Gamo

Associate

Dr. Nao Gamo is a Associate for the Verte family of funds and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of NeuroSonics Medical, Inc., a startup company developing novel ultrasound transducers for minimally invasive neurosurgery. She is passionate about connecting the entrepreneurial community and has been recognized as one of 25 RealLIST Connectors 2021 for her Health Tech Entrepreneurs Meetup series. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Dr. Gamo spent 15 years as an academic researcher in neuroscience and psychiatry, with a focus on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying cognitive impairment related to psychiatric disorders. She completed undergraduate degrees in Brain and Cognitive Sciences and Music from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a PhD in Neurobiology from Yale University, and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Molecular Psychiatry Program at the Johns Hopkins University.
